The model T Ford started it all. If you really look at it, 95% of all cars made, are made too fail. If a car didn't, periodically, fail in some way, then the Mechanics can't make money, and they can't sell you parts.
There is a big list of cars that sold like hotcakes, that were an accident waiting too happen, ie: the first Minivans.
To me, most of the makes don't really thrill me all that much; but, I did find one of the best and safest, cars too drive, and it feels like I am driving an airplane,
You can guess which car it is.
The key to profit in sales is not quality, but, marketing.
