They pick and choose what to believe, and what to discard. They frequently take verses out of the correct context in the Scriptures and frame them around the concocted teachings of the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society or Jehovah's Witness organization. They "make" the Bible say what they want it to say. They don't take God at His words. Neither did Adam and Eve -- they turned to the contradicting words of satan. Being a true believer, is taking God at His word. The Bible says God's words are Spirit and they are Life. Receiving God's words are receiving the truth of Himself - even His identity. Read John ch. 14... also Isaiah 9:6 - the Son would be called Everlasting Father. The Holy Spirit is no mere force, but is God (see John 4:24). We worship Him in Spirit and in His Truth ... not according to the organizations which twist His Truth and depart from His truth -- but those who abide in His Truth -- those are the true believers. Romans 8:9 says if we don't have His Spirit, then we do not belong to Him - we are none of His. The way we receive the Spirit, is by calling upon the name of Jesus asking Him for forgiveness of our sins. As the Bible says, there is no other name under heaven, by which we are saved. God has revealed Himself through the Son, and the Son has revealed the Father. Jesus said I and my Father are One. If you have seen me you have seen the Father. Henceforth you have seen Him and know Him. Jesus said I AM HE. Before Abraham was I AM. The Bible says God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself. He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not.
sheep though, they hear His voice, and don't turn to the voices of strangers -- people who are not the Shepherd. Popes, Muhammad, Ellen G. White, Mary Baker Eddy, Joseph Smith, Charles Taze Russell...etc... really there is just too many beyond even these -- they are a dime a dozen -- but they are all the voices of strangers. They all go around the Scriptures, not taking God at His words. The Bible curses those who add and subtract from His words -- the cults do both. God's words do not change, and God's truth was never lost. The Bible says that if even an angel comes to us offering us a different gospel (other than what the Bible says) let him be accursed. We are to test the spirits, and know that not every spirit is from God. How do we test the spirits? By standing on the words of God. If any person or angel speaks things opposite of the Bible, it is not the Bible that is in error. The Bible says Let God be true but every man a liar. It doesn't matter how unpopular God's truth is, it remains the truth despite the lack of popularity. God isn't changing His Truth to suit our preferences, or the preferences of the cult leaders. Have loyalty to God above organizations and mere men, as they are the blind leading the blind - whose end result is hell.
Paul commended the Berean people for this one thing, that they searched the Scriptures to see if what Paul was saying to them indeed aligned with God's words. Even the apostles didn't put themselves above the words of God. The Bible says God would become our Salvation. In Luke, the Bible says Jesus would save His people from their sins. If you read the Old Testament it says God alone is the Savior, there is no Savior but Him.. there is no savior besides Him. Jesus received worship, because of people who recognized and understood that He was the living, breathing, and walking Ark of the Covenant. God's Spirit in an earthen vessel, a vessel of human flesh. The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Jesus said He was from above and not of this world. He came down from heaven. He is the Alpha and Omega says the book of Revelation -- the beginning and the end. Jesus is the author of life, and everything was made through Him. He is the image of the invisible God. God manifest in the flesh - see 1 Timothy 3:16, KJV. Once you receive the Spirit of God in yourself, the Spirit bears witness and testifies that Jesus is God... that is the true witness, one which a person has within himself.
