Not really, no. While I'm not a fan, there was only one Nirvana. Nirvana was the band that defined a generation.
Every musical generation has a defining artist. That artist isn't always the first to do it, isn't always the best at what they do, and they sure as hell didn't plan to hold that status. They may have dreamed about it, but they didn't plan it. Defining a musical era can't be planned.
There are lots of bands who held the title before and after Nirvana. The Beatles, Motley Crue, Elvis, The Rolling Stones, Buddy Holly, Led Zeppelin and Metallica are a few. They're the performers that had the right look and sound, and they hit the scene at the perfect time with the perfect single, and the mighty gods of success favoured them.
