How to raise children in a world with gays in children tv shows?

As now they are just starting to add homosexuality themes in kids shows. When I eventually will have kids in the near future. homosexuals and gender swapping will probably be a common thing on tv.

Hollywood is anti god. As long as you educate your children and take them to Church they will know right from wrong.

I'm not sure where exactly you're conflicted but I presume it's the uncomfortableness of having to explain gay people to your (future) kids. I haven't seen a lot of kids shows recently, but it's true that television has become *way* more inclusive overall. It is no longer a surprise to see gay characters, or characters with disabilities, or of mixed race, or with mixed parents, or single parents, divorced parents, crazy parents or even no parents.

The point is there are a lot of variations in life; the best you can do when you have kids is to say, yup - there are people like that, and to answer any questions they might have as straightforwardly as possible, without making a big deal.

But really, why worry about something that's far off in the future? By the time you get there maybe you or the world will be a different place, so stay in the here and now.

Try teaching those children that being gay or bi or trans is perfectly normal, and that it's also perfectly okay NOT to want sex with people you're not attracted to.

Well, you are confusing two things completely. However, your kids will be what they are, regardless, and Arthur is not a danger to anyone. Growing up before having kids will be good for you and them.

And that's the time to be prepared to answer questions as they may come up. Be aware that when children's shows introduce such characters and themes, the purpose is to include the background information, so there may not be much for you to have to say. Just watch with your kids, true of all shows that they see.

Not so long ago people were kind of upset to see people of color showing up on T.V. shows. Now we've even got mixed race couples! And GAYS!! good grief what IS this world coming to. Your children, should you have any, might actually become human.

Yeah, it's going to be crazy. People that our kids will come into contact with on a regular basis are being given a voice on T.V. What's next? A couple sleeping in the same bed together on T.V. prior to marriage?

It's so rare though... So, say nothing unless the kid asks questions?

I mean, the rarity of it in kids shows alone is already going to convey a message that a minority of people are this way, most aren't, but some like them do exist and that's fine and nothing for the rest of us to be a jerk about.

Kids shows aren't going to magically make kids gay just by showing a same sex couple, that isn't how life works.

Would you rather children grow up to react with cruelty, toward people who have the right to make their own life decisions, including gay relationships, because they were given that message instead that it's okay to be abusive toward those who don't conform their own life to meet your comfort level?

    • Oh, plus the vegetarianism and animal rights lifestyle. That's not going to ever prevent animal abuse for everyone, convince everyone to change their dietary plans related to meat, or to fully understand or tolerate vegetarian folks.

  • LGBTQ people exist. Why should we pretend they don't?
