Deserve? It's just business, survival of the fittest. Their own customers are going to determine whether they live or die, at least in the commercial jets business. Boeing won't die, it's too big, and it can survive for a long time even in bad times. It also is a defense contractor, so it makes tons of money that way.
But its quality control reputation has taken a big hit, and it's definitely going to lose market share now. It used to be a 50:50 market with Airbus, and now it's likely going to be a 30:70 market vs. Airbus. The majority of Boeing's sales were in 737's, the very model that's taken a huge reputation hit. Airbus's competitor the A321 is going to rise and take up most of those sales. Even Airbus's smaller A220 models might slot in and take some of those 737 sales away too.
