It's not, not-normal?
Think of it like this okay, you are eventually going to find that ONE FRIEND, that you bond with so much. Maybe some dumb school project puts you into the same group, or just you meet them at an event and start talking. But eventually, everyone finds their best friend.
However, it sounds like to me you should poke around online for practice! Honestly I was an introvert before using Discord or Skype, and once I started playing games and meeting people, and having that anonymous confidence of being able to talk to people and hang out and no one judges you because you can act how you want online, you slowly build that socially accepted attitude about your self because if you did something bad in public you can always come home to your friends that don't know anything about it. I've become an Extrovert due to all the people I talk to and hang out with, and now I can go anywhere and easily talk to anyone.
So I would say online-gaming / online-chatting is a good way to practice.
