Congrats on the new Ruger, you're going to love it. Take good care of it, and it will be passed down for generations. There's kind of a difference between keeping your weapon clean and "cleaning" it. If this is your every day carry, clean it every day by wiping it down and maybe a drop or two of oil. If it sits in a safe and only comes out to be fired, clean it before putting it back away. Use a brass wire brush on the bore with Hoppes #9. Be careful, it removes fouling from a barrel, so it will dam sure removed the finish from your kitchen table. Oil it lightly with Hoppes and you're good to go. I imagine there are others than Hoppe, but that's what I was raised using, and the smell takes me down memory lane every time I clean a weapon...I love that smell.. Oh well, hope that helps, good luck and shoot safely.
