Why do I hear morse code at the far end of an AM radio receiver? Sounds like: ... ._. .._.?

If it is a continuous repetition of the same code, it is broadcast to maintain ownership of a frequency and prevent encroachment. The code is the station identification issued by FCC ( in the USA ) It is a legal requirement to prevent forfeiture.
