During my 'fertile' years I had a hormonal imbalance that required me to take progesterone to regulate my cycle, otherwise I'd have periods that would last for weeks, sometimes months, to the point where I became anemic. Because of that, I couldn't take regular birth control pills and had to rely on other contraception like condoms, a diaphragm or an IUD, all NOT 100% effective. If I did get pregnant, my condition would cause the baby to suffer from severe birth defects or it would compromise my health to try to take it to full term.
Although I never needed it, abortion was a real option for me. I'm glad I didn't need it but it would have been necessary just in case. Why something like this has to be anyone else's business is beyond me. Passing laws to prevent me from saving my own life is insane.
