Why do Canadians have to wait so long to receive the healthcare treatment they need?

It seems barbaric to make people wait so long.

Socialized Medicine uses that delay as a cost savings mechanism. If the patient finds another cure on their own or dies the Socialists don't get stuck with the bill.

Our system ix not socialist. Canadians voted in the democratic manner to have a single, nonprofit, national health insurance company, paid by payroll deductions like Americans do for social security. Medical problems are triaged according to need. Our life expectancy surpasses that of Americans.

Last time I got the cancer news, I said "Now what?" and the doctor said "How's Tuesday?".

    You’re confusing Canada with America.

Yeah, and here in the United States the health care treatment itself is so “barbaric” that it’s not even worth waiting for. Deadly, addictive opioids, brain damaging psych drugs, and lots of unnecessary surgeries, more and more unnecessary vaccines every year with more and more neurotoxic ‘adjuvants’.......all “treatments” that don’t exactly promote health or longevity. Pretty sad. If mainstream medicine in Canada is as bad as it is here, Canadians should be careful what they wish for. Because mainstream medicine here is documented to be the third leading cause of death

Why do Americans have to pay for their health care?

Update: @Spencer Nope. Don't try and change the fact that you have to PAY for your health care. Ours is FREE.

Update: @Blue Skys I don't care what you think. Stop commenting pointless ****

Blue face you have never stepped one foot outside
of your own neighborhood. You know nothing about
what you rattle your gums about. It is that obvious.

And your evidence is? Plastic Surgery, joint replacements, or healthcare in general? Because on the latter you are wrong, as evidenced by any American on vacation taken to a Canadian hospital. Here we would triage and send 'em home for no insurance, bill forthcoming.

No idea, but it took 17 years to get my hip replaced through an HMO in the US, which is now the reason that my right knee is totally messed up and needs replaced.

Some come to the States for medical procedures, instead of waiting 6 months. This could happen here to if the demwits take control.

Some Canadians go to the States for elective surgery not covered by our system. They get nose & boob jobs & tummy tucks because that's what American doctors are good at. ,

It's not socialism if the decision for a national health system was determined by vote in a democracy like Canada. In eh USA, not even the President needs to be elected by the people. The Electoral College replaces the vote of the people.

    Socialized Medicine.

That is how socialized medicine works.....you wait to see the dr and soon you die because of the wait.

Example>> A women finds a lump. By the time she gets a biopsy the cancer has spread so bad that years of treatment are required. IF she had a biopsy one week after the finding in one more week she could have the lump removed and be radiated during the surgery so that follow up would be limited to office visits.

    Can You say death panels?

depends on procedure. If life threatening, it's fast. If you want knee replacement, it can take a while but you will not lose your house or retirement savings.

Have you lived in Canada? I have. Their system is fantastic if you need urgent care type treatment... beyond that, it sucks!
