Find distractions instead of over-eating. Go out walking, call a friend, clean the garage or do housework, invite a friend to go bowling or to do something else (not a restaurant).

Change your diet. Stop eating sugar and grains. High carb foods only make you hungrier. Eat healthy fats too - they keep us full longer.

Figure out why. Read some books on emotional eating and or get therapy. People who overeat or can't stop eating often have emotional/psychological reasons. For example, there is a biochemical reaction when we eat certain types of food that produces the "feel good" hormone dopamine. We get both physical and psychological pleasure so we don't want to stop. OR, you are using your extra weight as a shield or excuse so you don't have to face certain things or deal with real success of failure. Your mind is powerful and it will sabotage your dieting efforts if it doesn't want to have to deal with the realities of being thin -- could be personal or professional.

There are lots of diet tips -- like not buying your binge foods and stocking up on raw veggies, but people who have a psychological basis for their eating will find themselves at a fast food drive up window anyway. Deal with the emotional side, then you will have the foundation to address the diet.

The best way to do it is start with eating EXACTLY what you usually eat, but cut right down...smaller portions, less snacks and more exercise. Most people just eat because they're bored, try doing something to occupy your time.

Pile the veggies high on you plate. Eat filling meats like salmon, tuna, eggs, beef and chicken breasts. Don't fry anything. Boil, bake, broil or grill. Drink only water or zero calorie drinks. It isn't how much you are eating it is what you are eating.
