I have 200GB on my 1TB external. How can I reformat to exFAT without loosing all of my data?

move data elsewhere. number two -- hard disk manager software may be able to create a second partition on the external, which can be formatted however you like. be sure to leave blank space in the original partition so it can be reorganized by the operating system [at least 50 Gb]

Copy the Data to a second external.

You can't. Formatting wipes all the data.
