8:1 to 9:1. Not worth a rebuild. But, if you must, new valves, seats, springs, hone (not bore) out cylinders, chrome rings, new oil pump, new radiator & fan, coolant & pump. Have fun.,

Very weak engine with worst heads chevy ever built. It has around 165 h.p. with a 4 barrel. Around 145 with a 2 barrel. Most sb's will be in the 135 to 155 range on a compression test.. cylinders need to be within 10% of each other. If you're going to rebuild your '70s-spec 350, a mild performance rebuild probably won't cost you any more than a numbers-matching stock rebuild. Start by installing a camshaft with about 210 degrees of duration at 0.050-inch lift. Cap the engine with a mild double-plenum intake manifold optimized for torque and a rebuilt 450 cfm Quadrajet carburetor. Evacuate gases with a set of long-tube, "Tri-Y" headers to boost torque, and you'll end up with a street-friendly 350 that does its best work from idle to about 6,000 rpm. Expect about 310 horsepower and 370 foot-pounds of torque.
probably 8 somethin ... its a 'smog motor', and that was before it was wore out lol .. thats alright, stick you something like some edlebrock heads on there and some nitrous and it will wake right up lol ..
