Yesterday, a liberal on here said we need to get rid of guns to stop school shootings. Okay, let's entertain this idea. How?

How do you think we should, "get rid of guns," as Sam put it?

The second amendment gives us the right to own, and the fifth protects us from having our property taken without due process of law. So, unless they only want to abolish one of the Bill of Rights, the second amendment, they would have to have 100 million separate trials, at least. Abolishing the fifth amendment would destroy our entire system of justice.

The only reason to disarm the public is to impose a dictatorship or totalitarian regime.

By your logic the only reason to own guns is to overthrow or prevent a dictatorship. Don't have much faith in the Constitution do you? That's why we have checks and balances, that's why we have a democracy and can vote out the would-be dictators.

I don't think guns should be banned because after all some people use guns for hunting or because they need them for their jobs. An example would be in cases where you're working in the military or as a police officer. However if you're gonna own a gun then it needs to be in a locked safe so that kids don't get a hold of it.

Take guns then we'll just have to stab or hrow people out windows or run them over with trucks like they do in UK.

First, expand the ban on machine guns and automatic weapons to include devices produced to evade the ban itself, like bumpstocks and oversize magazines. Then introduce legislation that allows law enforcement personnel to confiscate such weapons where found, and imprison those who commit crimes with them for a minimum period of time. Offer a buyback program as an incentive.

Repeal the sweetheart laws that allow gun manfucturers to avoid lawsuits when their products are used to violate the right to life. Then wait to see if the carnage is significantly reduced.

If not, bring in a law requiring all gun owners (including me) to report regularly to a nationally organized "well ordered militia" for proper training. Those who refuse to do so can have the illegal weapons pried from their "dead, cold hands."

Buy back, that implies that you had them in the first place. Programs where guns that were "no longer wanted" and paid an incentive for them only paid $50 in the form of a Wal-Mart gift card. Sorry, I don't own a gun that's only worth $50.

All studies have proven that the countries with less guns and greater gun control have less murders. Guns are illegal in Japan and in 2012 Japan had a total of three murders.

So, lovie, are you saying that our diversity is the underlying cause for the USA exceptionally high murder rate by guns? Not very liberal of you.

Banning guns wont stop school killings. When I was in highschool one student stab another one with a switch blade. Stabbed him twice. Dude didn't die, but had to undergo emergency surgery.

Semi automatic. Also mass shootings deaths made up only 0.03% of all gun homicides last year
