They have been tricked into thinking that academic success leads to a better or more fulfilling life.
The education system is a tool used to select the most obedient repeaters/order takers.
It doesn't select for maturity, wisdom or productive habits.
In actual fact, education is designed to DESTROY those three aforementioned characteristics.
This has been the case for over one hundred years, it isn't a new phenomenon.
But in the last thirty years this problem has gained a new dimension: many lecturers are forced to take on short term semester long contracts in order to make ends meet.
In the past, working in education would at least provide job security and a pension, but now it provides nothing.
Except a bunch of parents lecturing you on how 'those who can, do, those who can't, teach', whilst also claiming that anyone who isn't a graduate is stupid.
