    Unisex names, tend to become less popular for boys, when they gain in popularity for girls. This is because in general, society accepts tomboys , while calling a boy a 'cissy' is derogatory.

    Lindsey, Ashley, Shannon, and other names used to be exclusively male names. Now they are mostly female names, but still "somewhat" unisex.
