You sound envious. Why don't you go put a relative in a private school and then judge what's nicer? Private schools are less testy, teachers have more freedom to teach outside the box these days.
Public school teacher's these days must obsess over what and why their lesson plan for the day is what they choose for their classrooms.
Public schools fire good teachers whose kids are poor test takers. They get hired to raise test scores of the poor and low scoring test neighborhoods. The teachers are fresh, newbies and eventually also teach in private schools once they see that the testing is just like discrimination.
If a black teacher is hired, and they relate well to their poor test taking kids, yet cant increase test scores, they are fired b4 their tenure of teaching position occurs.
Student loans then are not paid off if the new teacher cant remain in the school hired in to teach and also have their student loans forgiven as low-income district teachers.
Its kind of a way that our government makes Promises that never work out because of the testing as a cover-up.
Many new teachers, fresh out of college, have loan luggage left to have forgiven. They can't do this if district fires them for not proving that their methods of teaching are seen in a direct increase of student test scores.
I see this a lot, the old High Schools have a high turn over rate of school administrators and new teachers. Most staff left are the Classic teachers and clerks from 30 yrs ago. The newby teachers and new administrators at the high schools turn over about every 4 to 5 yrs at the public schools.
My former private high schools still are staffed w/ same teachers I had 30 yrs ago. The administrative staff remains at private high schools much longer as well. Therefore the school has less chaos in all the new staff taking over where the low performing miracle makers failed to make the student's test scores improve overnight.
For this to happen, the gene pools of the ancestors would need to be genetically engineered for the low scoring students to ever show such a dramatic improvement.
Also bringing in to the schools some adult teachers who have had a long history of successful non-education-related careers such as managers, scientists, accountants, doctors, etc . Then we shall have a new breath of leaders among the low scoring test-takers in our current low scoring schools.
But they make it difficult for this to happen and thus the type of teacher's which are attracted are the ones we keep hearing about.
The standards now require CLAD and BCLAD bi-lingual teachers to overtake our public classrooms.
I had a learning disability, as well as foreign parents, so I needed perfect English speaking teachers when I attended school.
Nowadays the teachers need to have a dual language background to fulfill the requirements of the nations new bi-lingual populations.
Classrooms keep accommodating the masses of peoples kids newly immigrated and now in our public schools' systems all requiring bi-lingual specialists to be the head teachers of our accommodating public schools.
Can't they see that manny low scoring test takers are immigrant children, as well as children from impoverished families?
It is not necessarily the foreign background training as teacher's that improves the classroom but the fact that the teachers be professional in their role as well as responsible to find appropriate school resource referrals to address the needs of the students which they do not have the time to help.
The lack of time, as well as the number of public school students, continues to increase. like an overcrowded mouth of teeth need a few good tugs before any real orthodontic correction may even take place.
