No. I mean something like gymnastics may be hard to pick up at that age but odds are you could find some junior varsity team in high school and walk on a division 3 sport in college at that age. Plus there’s always just playing for fun and you never know what kind of aptitude you might find!

No. You can try swimming, skiing, archery, marksmanship (rifle), or other track & field events.
I live in Los Angeles. My childhood friend had never seen a rifle before he joined the high school rifle team.

I learned to fence in my 20s. I am rated as a professional fencer now. [That's no big deal; you can be a professional fencer and never have held a foil, epee, or sabre in your life. Screwy rules.] But I can claim to be a maître des armes, having taught people to fence.
