Is it time for the dimensions of basketball courts and football fields to change?

Update:

In basketball, the 3-point line needs to be pushed back and there is barely room on the sideline now. In football there are now 260 lb. athletes who run sub 4.5 40's, there needs to be more space to maneuver.

not in football for sure. plenty of space to maneuver on a football field and the sideline is needed for strategy and clock management.

basketball is a somewhat more interesting idea. i wouldn't mind seeing some preseason games done experimentally with just a couple more feet of width so that the 3s taken in the corner aren't shorter than the 3s taken at the top of the key. NBA only, of course, because i think the NBA is the only league that has this problem and i wonder if smaller venues in other leagues could even be realistically converted without losing seating.
