To make an example of him and deter anyone else who wants to publish information about US war crimes that the military tries to cover up.

Julian Assange is seen as a cyber terrorist and thief. Just as leaders in physical terrorism are wanted by US authorities, with him being seen as the head of a group of cyber terrorist the same standard is applied.
He and his minions have broke into supposedly secure facilities taking information and causing in some cases damage. From civilian targets (electrical power distribution and air controllers to cite two examples) to military targets as well as diplomatic targets his group has caused havoic which in many cases goes unreported by the press to prevent panic.

because he publushed US army crimes in foreing countries, there is videos and documentos of soldiers murdering unarmed civilians and looks like just for fun, that leads many civilian leaders to ask who is the real terrorist and what are the real intentiosn of united states on those countires that lead to pressure their countries to do something to avoid more war crimes
