    If "best" translates as most recognisable and memorable over the longest period I would pick Coca-Cola closely followed by McDonald's but is that just because of exposure?

    As for most effective, simple mark, how about the old British Rail logo.

    Kind of a nonsense question, it is true. One of the greats is Nike, though. Just a slash and everybody knows it.
