Abilene Christian: Medium-sized school (about 4,000), residential campus (better social life when people stick around on weekends), small town in the middle of nowhere near an Air Force base. The town will be more supportive of the university and its activities because there isn't much else to do. Graduation rate is okay, but the school is expensive -- about $50,000/year including room, board, tuition and fees.
Cal Poly Pomona -- large university (about 24,000), primarily a commuter campus (so less social life on weekends). Located in suburban Los Angeles with five other small colleges around Pomona. So, big city location with all the distractions of a big city. Better graduation rate than Abilene Christian, but that may be because it is cheaper than Abilene Christian. If you are a California resident, Cal Poly Pomona will be about $29,000/year for room, board, tuition and fees.
