Yes. Calculus is different. Only in the proof of it will math, pre-calc, help. if I taught you how to use the power rule, you simply have to remember it and how to apply it. No Cartesiasn planes, graphs, no multiplication tables.
x= 3 + 2y3. (That's 2 wye to the third power)
Differentiate using power rule: Constants go out, so this becomes: 2y3
And: x=2y (3-1) = 2y2.
And:( 2 +1)y2 = 3y2.
x=3y squared, or to 2nd power
Plug in: use 2 for y: so x= 3 (2) 2=3(4) =12.
