Without the least doubt. In the War of 1812, although the U.K. was involved in Europe, the U.S. failed miserably in 100% of its war aims. It was virtually bankrupt & unable to finance an 1815 campaign. The only reason the King didn't order Wellington & his Peninsular Army to N.America was a "wait & see" attitude about what the exiled Napoleon would do. Had he returned while Wellington was in N. America, eviscerating the U.S., then France may have had a resurgence. Had Napoleon NOT come back, & Wellington been sent, the U.S. would have been a short-lived country indeed - 1776 to 1816?
