Hm...favorite...hard to say. I m a sucker for berries and summer fruits, but have to agree that I ve never met a fruit I didn t like.
If I had to pick one fruit as the only one I could ever eat forever, it would be apples.
Thankfully, I ll never have to make that choice!
I have a "Secret Weapon Fruit Salad" that is always a hit:
Various summer fruit, including melon but no citrus and no banana
Cut to similarly sized chunks - I go for lots of variety in color and texture, I always have some crisp apple and slightly under ripe pear for crispness.
To your prepared fruit (2 quarts to a gallon or more) add an entire can of litchi nuts AND their syrup. You can cut these up, or process the contents of the can before adding. Litchi nuts are a chinese fruit with a delicately floral scent. The syrup adds a touch of sweetness and the whole salad gets a delicate floral scent from the litchi nuts.
I have taken literally gallons of this to parties and events and have never ever had any left over. It s usually the first serving bowl to be emptied. I used to offer a "prize" to whoever could figure out the secret ingredient but everyone in my circles know my trick by now. Sometimes I also add a pinch or so of lemon thyme leaves, I give them a quick pinch before adding them to release a bit of their aroma.
