In Britain, Sidney is a good name for a boy, and has been for several centuries. Possibly slightly old-fashioned now. I have never heard of Sidney used as a girl's name.

I think it makes a good middle name for a girl named Michael.

Sidney is perfect for a boy! I love it. It was a boys name first so I don’t understand how people can think it’s feminine. Sidney Michael flows okay but Michael is quite common. My favorite is Eli though. Sounds so handsome. Eli would be my first choice over Sidney. Charlie is not one I care for at all. It’s a nickname for Charles to me. And I don’t like Charles. Albert is too old fashioned for my taste . Better off as a middle name. And I really dislike the nickname Bertie

I'm not fond of the name for either gender. That and it was insanely popular years back. I like Eli, it's a name that will age well.
