You should go see a Mental Health Therapist that either a Licensed Clinical Social Worker(LCSW), Psychologist or Family Marriage Counselor IF you are NOT ALREADY. Start by telling your family doctor about it, so that he or she can recommend you one to see. From there your Mental Health Therapist will diagnose and tell you what you have like Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Attack Social Anxiety Disorder, Bipolar, OCD ADHD, duel diagnoses, etc.... Also do you need to take meds depending on the level or your mental health problem. Form there he or she will recommend a Psychiatrist( a doctor in mental health) he or she works with. Your family doctor is NOT a Psychiatrist and can't deal with your mental health problem side and what meds to take. Some people has to take meds or their mental health is not under control. He or she can function that well or get through the day. By the way IF you need to go to the psychiatric ward of the hospital, then they will recommend you one to see as a out patient. When it is time for you to be discharged. I never had to go to at all.
I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder, I don't take meds. Because I don't like the side affects that might happen to me, whether it one listed warnings or what and how I might react to the meds as an individual taking which med might be right for me. IF there are any for Anxiety meds at all. My great former therapist of 13 years a Licensed Clinical Social Worker(LCSW), she never made me take meds or one day say you have to, how your Anxiety going. After my therapist left her City and Country job to think about does she want to work privately. My new therapist also didn't force or say I have to take meds. For me IF the meds give problem I going to have a bad day and it like the problem has taken control of my enjoyment. I'm not going have a good day and care my favorite shows and other stuff. Could have sleeping problem too of not getting enough sleep.
