You are NOT too young for a stroke or heart attack, if you have a family history of cardiovascular disease. If your blood pressure is high, and you're not taking precautions (exercise, correct diet, etc.), you're courting danger. My family has a genetic predisposition for cardiovascular problems, and out of 12 first cousins, I'm one of two who doesn't have a pacemaker, or has had open heart surgery, or died. I've had two heart attacks and two TIA's. Several of my surviving cousins and I have to take blood pressure medication to keep stabilized. Our parents had to do the same. Unfortunately, the medications they took, as well as those our grandparents took, weren't as sophisticated as the medications of today, and they all died relatively young. We've had cousins who died in their 20's and 30's. Please do not ignore your dr., and start living a healthier lifestyle. You might not need the medication forever, if you get your health under control.
