With immigrant community has achieved more for the USA Mexican/Latinos or the Irish ?

    Irish because they been in the USA since colonial times but the Mexicans/Latinos have made their fair share of contribution.

    Interesting comparison. When the Irish arrived in droves in the 1850s, escaping from the potato famine, they were received with the same enthusiasm as Mexican immigrants today. All over New York and Boston there were signs saying that the Irish were not welcome as tenants or as employees. A friend of mine who grew up in New York in the 50s remembers signs saying "Irish need not apply". The term "Paddy wagon" for a police van comes from the perception that the police were always hauling away drunk Irish people. Of course they are valuable citizens now- and so will the children of Mexican immigrants.
