If the Nazis won World War II and conquered America, would they really have demolished the Statue of Liberty and melted the Liberty Bell?

As shown in the TV show "The Man in the High Castle"?

In that show, they melt the Liberty Bell and remold it into a golden swastika and they demolish the Statue of Liberty in a spectacular ceremony involving fireworks and set to the strains of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. And they talk about building a new Nazi statue in place of the Statue of Liberty.

Do you think the Nazis really would have destroyed these American icons if they won World War II and conquered the United States of America?

If the conquest of the USA had happened as shown in the show, the Liberty Bell would be in a museum in Berlin and the Statue of Liberty would probably have been demolished as soon as the Germans occupied New York - it would have made an outstanding propaganda newsreel.

Dubious, at best. Yet another sad choice as "Best Answer."

They could not even cross the English Channel to attack the UK.

There was never a chance that the Nazis would conquer America from without. As Humphrey Bogart said in Casablance, "There are parts of New York I woldn't advose you to invade."

The Nazis, more accurately described as corporate racists, can only conquer us from within. That is what is going on right now.

There's no way to know this. We don't live in parallel universes. History unfolds one way only. This is where we get the facts to form our convictions.

They never wanted to conquer America, only the Soviet Union, their main aim. If the UK had not declared war on Nazi Germany, there would never have been a Battle of Britain either. Orginally, Hitler wanted the UK as his ally.

Not necessarily an ally, but to just remain aloof.

NO,NO,NO, they would have done something much more worse. They would have warned against the health hazards of eating Hot-Dogs and Hamburgers.

GERMANS telling you not to eat wurst or frikadelle? Not bloody likely! However, they'd definitely want to do something about your abysmal "schweinewasser (pig urine)" beer.

The Nazis could never have conquered America. They lacked the manpower and resources to do so. They could have forced the US to a negotiated peace, but not conquered it.

Canada, Mexico, Argentina & the other 35 countries would never have surrendered.

No. Hitler's war wasn't against the United States, he was against Roosevelt - whom he still respected, even though Roosevelt was the one responsible for starting the war in Europe, particularly against Germany.

And contrary to Roosevelt's lies to his own people, Hitler had no desire to attack the United States. Roosevelt made up that propaganda in his attempt to generate support for him to involve the United States the conflict that was brewing in Europe.

It's the Democrats who want to do that.

Morgenthau was Jewish, wasn't he...? Imagine him being involved in starting a war against Hitler - after all, it was all Hitler's fault (or so they say).

Hard to say. I tend to doubt it.

The Nazis didn't WANT to conquer the US. They wanted Europe, and they wanted the US to get out of the war and leave them to it. But they did conquer France, and they didn't pull down the Eiffel Tower or the Arc de Triomphe, did they?

The Nazis had no desires in Europe at all. They wanted to seize the U.S.S.R. as far as the Ural Mts./Caspian Sea to eradicate Bolshevism & create a 1000-year realm in which Germans would live rather like plantation owners in the 19th C. U.S. south, with Slaves in the role of the black slaves.
