Like some other ethnic groups, the Jewish people are a world-wide "family." Attacks on some of them, even if in another country, are felt very personally by others. Lebanon is where Hamas, the strong-arm faction supporting Palestinians, is centered. Israel has warred with Lebanon in recent times.

Lebanon used to be a pretty nice place. For about 3 decades it was known as the Switzerland of the Middle East. With the rise of radical Islam and increased hostility to Israel that ended.

If you are referring to the country north of Israel, Lebanon has experienced a large migration of Shiite Muslims who are affiliated with the Hezbollah terrorist group. Hezbollah is mostly supported and financed by Iran, which has sworn to destroy Israel.
