How can one leave California and move to Canada?

You cannot "move" to a foreign country without obtaining proper visa/immigration prior to entry. For Canada, see the Immigration Canada website, cic.gc.ca. Be sure to check Canada's requirements for education, training, experience, expertise in an occupation on their shortage list eligible for temporary employment visa or immigration (PR). Quotas often close very quickly after posting the new annual list. In general, expect to need at least a master's degree + several years of experience in a high-tech/STEM occupation. Then you have to find a job with an AUTHORIZED employer who has govt permission to consider foreign applicants for an open position in a listed occupation. Any job opening which offers the possibility of an employment visa or immigration attracts hordes of applicants, and it is not unusual to get 100-1000 applicants for one position.
