    4 + 2*7 = 18

    I'm assuming you are trying to write an equation for that English phrase "4 plus the product of a number 14"

    However, as written it doesn't make sense. A product is always the result of multiplying *two* numbers but you just have the number 14.

    I think you meant to say, "4 plus the product of a number *and* 14"

    4 +

    "... the product of..."

    4 + (?? * ??)

    "...a number and 14."

    4 + (x * 14)
