For those who define hell as "separation from God", why are atheists on earth separated from God, yet we aren't tortured?

Because you are not entirely separated from God's goodness. The world is in a dispensation of grace where the goodness of God still has some sway. God is the source of every good thing; especially love, joy, peace, comfort, rest and hope. These are absent in hell. But while we live this life, these are available to us in limited measure - as God waits patiently for us to be return to Him.

We live in God's good creation. And while we have corrupted it through continual sin, it has not completely succumbed to that corruption yet.

The Bible defines hell as the grave. That's physical separation from God who is in heaven.

    >>why are atheists on earth separated from God, yet we aren't tortured?<,

Aside from the built in consequences of sin - and the biblical law of reaping and sowing - Gods judgment comes when you pass on.

Gal 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

Jhn 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Those who seek only World Pleasures lose everything at Death.

"2. Consider that then, the world will come to an end as far as you are concerned. You will have no more part in it. It will turn upside down before your eyes, for worldly joys and pleasures and the things you loved in vain will turn into empty dreams and shadows. Fool that I am to offend God for the sake of such trifling vanities. I have forsaken God, and for what - for nothing! On the other hand, devotion and good deeds will be seen as desirable and delightful to and you will ask yourself - why did I not take this beautiful and pleasant path of everlasting joy? At that hour, your sins - which at the time seemed so small - will appear as vast as mountains and your devotions truly small

    3. Consider how reluctantly your soul will bid farewell to this world, to all its riches and vanities, to amusements, friends, family, to everything - and last of all, to your own body, leaving it pale, wasted away, hideous and fearful"

If you are ALIVE it means that God is giving you TIME to change your mind. THAT SAID... I am a Christian who does NOT believe that the Bible says that the unsaved will be 'tortured'. The choice is between LIFE and DEATH. And death does not mean life somewhere really awful.

We atheists are getting along quite well separated from the nonexistent God. No God needed.

The Bible never says that hell is "separation from God" only. The Bible describes the lake of fire as eternal torment.

    .

    Nobody has to be there.

Death leads to immediate heaven or hell, depending only on whether you believed in Jesus for eternal life, or not. If you believe in Jesus, you will be in heaven and enjoy it :)

The truth is that Jesus loves you and wants to bless your life freely :) Most of all, Jesus wants you with Him forever, and not in hell. The truth is that every belief except one will lead to eternal torment in the lake of fire for every person. Because nothing pays for our sins except the death and blood of Jesus, the sacrifice of Jesus that is already accomplished by Him . Jesus loves you! The truth is that Jesus is God, and Jesus died on the cross to pay for all of our sins in full, and then Jesus resurrected from the dead. Nothing else pays for our sins, not works, not deeds, not religions. So the only way to heaven and to avoid hell, is by believing in Jesus for eternal life (John 6:47), without adding any of your own works (Romans 4:5). Believe in Jesus to take you to heaven, and you will be in heaven, no matter what, guaranteed. That easy, thanks to Jesus! Tell Jesus that you thank Him that you will be with Him in heaven when you die, because you believe in Jesus! It is too late to be saved, after death

Hell is an empty threat, as pedophile preachers know well.
