Booming bass sound from rear port of music centre. Should I cover it, or use a tube to extend port through rear of furniture unit.?

Use your tone control or equiliser. Don't cover the port.

No, it would affect the system.

couple ways to address that
place the bass enclosure up higher,,
cut a piece of carpet to set it on
move into the room centre,,corners reflect & augment bass sound,
get an equalizer, adjust the vernier to shape bass to your preferences
make sure the main unit has tone controls in neutral.loudness control out/off.

Leave it as it is.

Move the speaker(s) away from the walls.

No idea what you are talking about, but ports are there for a reason. No port, no deep bass.
Good for drums, bad for theater (high fidelity) sound.
