I plan to take my 18 year old son from NYC to Washington DC by Greyhound. He only has his high school I d. Is this a problem?

As MS said yes he can travel with his school ID.

But at this age he should have a state ID card.

Pretty quick and easy to get one for him.

You do not need to show ID to travel on Greyhound buses. You only have to show ID if you are picking up your tickets at the station - in that case, only the person who purchased the ticket has to show ID. If someone else purchased the ticket in your name, then you would have to show your ID and know the account name under which the tickets were purchased. Your son will not need ID to travel unless he has to pick up the tickets himself.
