Do you agree with President Trump? Should Israel be forgiven for bombing the U.S.S. Liberty on June 8, 1967 and killing 34 Americans???

Israel can do no wrong, Jesus said so. Except for that bit where they're all going to be tortured for eternity for not believing in him.

    Hello Sally,

Regarding the accidental attack on the USS Liberty by Israel in 1967, unfortunate “friendly-fire” incidents are difficult to completely-avoid:

“The June 21 [1967, CIA] memorandum is a point-by-point analysis of Israeli inquiry findings of fact. It concludes: “The attack was not made in malice toward the U.S. and was by mistake, but the failure of the IDF Headquarters and the attacking aircraft to identify the [USS] Liberty and the subsequent attack by torpedo boats were both incongruous and indicative of gross negligence.” ”

[The Clark Clifford Report of July 1967 concluded that the incident was:]

“... a flagrant act of gross negligence ...”.

    I hope this helps.

We allowed Iraq to get away with firing on the Stark, so why not?

It's easy for a coward with bone spurs to "forgive"

A US navy ship once shot down a civilian Iranian airliner, killing 274 men, women and children. I don't hear people dwelling on the incident 31 years later. It's a volatile region where tragic mistakes have occurred. I put the Liberty incident in that category.

It was an accident, under different leadership on both sides. It's over and done with.
