Is it acceptable for an orthodontist to tell me "good girl!". Im a woman in my late 20s?

    It was a compliment. They have their life-long vocabulary and if you want any of it edited, tell them.

    It's weird, I'll say that but usually you can tell the intent coming from the person. As long as they didn't mean any offense or anything weird by it I would say it's fine... but it is weird.

    Considering that he is probably old enough to be your father, I don't see the problem. It was meant as a term of affection or encouragement. It too bad you aren't able to see that. Only a reason to be offended.

    Older people say this a lot, like over 50, and it personally drives me NUTS when people say this to me. It makes me sound like a damn dog. But meh, whatever. For all I know, I'm driving them crazy with what I say. I just shake it off and go about my day.
