Why is the process to become an American citizen so complicated if the immigrants in the early 1900s had it easier when they arrived by boat?

Theyvwere invited and tokd to cone and It Was sanctioned by the Government. There was lots of free land to claim and it was cheap to buy. The Irish were the best immigrants besides the Germans, Scotts, French, Dutch, and Italians.

Today we have laws and illegals cannot be flooding here from lousy third world countries.

  • There was no process back then. You just got off the boat, killed some Indians, and took their land.

Apparently you know very little of the turn of the century immigration process, nor the multitudes sent back.

Everything government touches turns to poo.

The immigration department is ten times worse than the DMV. Most Americans never interact with it so they have no idea how inefficient and broken that department is.

If the IRS can process your taxes in a couple of weeks it should not take the INS years and years to process an immigration application.

We needed people to build the country then. Now that the work is done, and we re filled to capacity the requirements are tighter.
