I don't know that deserving really has anything to do with it. People can perform acts that are reason to cause them to be removed from life and society, the earth itself, but is it deserved? Who decides? If I impose death on someone, it really isn't about them, it is about me and how I decided to deal with the problem. Deserving never enters the discussion except as an excuse.
Does anyone actually deserve to live? If there is no deserving of life, then how is their deserving to take away that which was never justifiable in the first place? Seems to me that the question is one of chance and opportunity, and value judgements do not really matter at the base of the question.
