My senior friend has atrial fibrillation (stroke risk), yet she takes anti-acid drugs, statins, and steroids, all known to cause afib, why?

I don't understand why his doctor won't take him off anti-acids and/or Lipitor just to see of the afib goes away or lessens. He was just hospitalized with a heart rate of 140 and had to be stabilized. My friend is afraid to stop any of the drugs on his own. What would you do?
