    I doubt he was the first, but he was definitely Jewish, because his mother was Jewish and that is all it takes in Judaism to make someone a full Jew. It doesn t matter that his father was African, as long as the mother is Jewish, Obama is accepted as a full Jew in Judaism. How do you think he got elected so easy, lol?

      Barack is an Arabic name and supposedly has the same Semitic roots as the Hebrew name Baruch. Interestingly enough, there is a Hebrew name Barak, which sounds the same yet has different roots. Baruch/Barack means "blessed",but Barak means "lightning".
