Best Answer: You quit looking for it, dumbass Tis the internet era and your lame radio is long dead (thank god!). There is great music today if only you'd learn how to find it then we wouldn't have to listen to such utter BS!
you didn't grow up on it, i'm assuming. that's probably why. tastes evolve! keep in mind that even classic artists like Nat King Cole were controversial in their days because of shifts in the direction music was heading.
the real question is — are you really going to compare two completely different genres and expect to have a straight answer? "pop" gained its name for a reason. it's popular because it's what's most relatable, what's most palatable, or what's most profitable. classic rock isn't pop.
i really don't understand people who say stuff like "ugh pop sucks!! i miss the old stuff!" but then bring up a completely different genres which just throws off the whole argument and makes you "look better."
if you want a more consistent argument, don't bring classic rock up when questioning pop. bring up artists like Tiffany, Madonna, Wham!, The Go-Go's. that's pop.
and anyway, pop then and pop now are similar in lyrics so you're just being elitist and annoying.
