This life is just an illusion or a dream. Nothing is real except consciousness. Consciousness is the source of everything. Think about dreams, when you dream, there's a different 'you' with a different reality. This 'you' doesn't know it's dreaming and believe everything is real. The same with this reality. There's a 'you' that believes everything is real even if it's not. In reality, this 'you' (ego) doesn't exist, it's just an illusion created by your mind. The only thing that you can sure of, is consciousness, awareness. Without it, nothing can be perceived.
In Hinduism, they call this reality 'Maya', the illusion. 'Brahman' is the consciousness, the only things that's real. 'We' are just avatars for 'Brahman' or consciousness.
I'm not Hindu but I do find this interesting especially after taking psychedelics. When you take psychedelics, you wake up from this dream and realize that we're all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively and that life is just a dream.
