It is called "Critical thinking". Sometimes you simply need to read the article and outline the main points. A basic outline of "main topic, supporting statement" applies to these articles you do not like. Sometimes it is good to be impassionate about a subject, but merely report the subject as a news article with no emotion or attempt to instill your point of view on the subject. So, for the articles you do not like, read, identify the main points and their supporting statements, then repeat them back as a newspaper story with you contributing ideas for solutions to a problem, possible practical uses for a scientific discovery, or simply repeat the main points of the article as if you were trying to teach the subject to high school young people. Then, you will do better on your exams. Good luck.
