i personally am vegan but i disagree. of course a world of peace and love is ideal, but modern veganism can be almost as harmful if not more so than non-veganism. with the amount of carnivorous pets in the U.S. alone a vegan world would likely encourage more fools to put their dogs, cats, etc., on a vegan diet which will eventually lead to their sad lethargic end. there is also the fact that most of the earth grown foods you may consume were produced under horrible work conditions. i have always been an avid animal lover and animal rights activist but i will never prioritize animals life over human life. that is not to say that animals are below humans-- i will likely not prioritize human life over animal life either. another factor to my views is the fact that vegan replacements for many animal products are just cheap plastic that will not last and effectively destroying the earth. pleather is plastic and will not stand any testament to real leather, which will decompose back into the earth. faux fur is just plastic that will not keep you warm in these frighteningly cold winters as real fur will. i would never purchase leather or fur or or snake/alligator skin but i will also never put down the choices of someone who would. there is truly no ethical consumption under capitalism, and while i fully endorse the vegan lifestyle i understand that it is NOT the key to a happy peaceful world. hope this gives new insight!
