Does it normally take time to notice reduction in belly fat?

I’ve been healthily reducing my fat with a 500 calorie deficit per day. I also do some strength training and eat lots of protein so I don’t lose much muscle mass in the process. I’ve noticed some fat reduction but not much around my waist where I most want it gone so that my abs are more visible.
