Because they are, so I don't agree with your opinion. Dog's thrive and survive on a meat based diet. While they may eat other things such as fruits, vegetables or other junk foods that their owners might feed them, that doesn't mean that they are not carnivores. Even if an owner decides to feed their dog pickles and ice cream, and the dog does eat those things, that dog can NOT thrive on a diet as such. Sure, there are fillers dog foods, some better than others, but all dry kibble dog foods have "some" sort of fillers such as sweet potatoes, blueberries, etc., etc. Why do you think they are not carnivores? Is it because they will eat things such as green beans or bananas? Most dog's will consume just about anything, but that doesn't mean they are not carnivores. A starving dog will eat sticks and plastic containers out of a trash can. Does that mean it can suvive on sticks and plastic? No it doesn't, and more than likely would die from an untreated intestinal blockage. There's nothing really wrong with feeding a dog green beans or bananas as a TREAT, but it has no benefit whatsoever to them. It's a TREAT, not part of their normal diet to thrive/be healthy.
