It depends on the ammo being used and the gas level in the tank. A full thank is less likely to go BOOOM than an nearly empty tank. The gas liquid will kill the sparks were the nearly empty tank has gas fumes that are more likely to BLOW.

Questionable - Mythbusters TV series did a programme about this. It depends on type of weapon and ammo used.

Anything that causes a spark in the fuel could certainly cause an explosion.

With a regular round, no. It will just puncture the tank if it has enough force to do so. If a second round was fired immediately after the tank was first ruptured, then that might ignite fumes, but the tank will not explode. The fire will just burn until it's put out.

Why don't you try it with YOUR car and see what happens. Stand REALLY close when you do it, so you'll be sure to hit the gas tank.
