Why is healthy food so expensive in the USA?

Unhealthy can be expensive too. The Chocolate Factory has a turtle that costs %6.50. That's one turtle. My dad found that out the hard way. He thought he was going to get at least 6 turtles.
Anyway, overpriced goods are ones that label themselves as organic. After the cursory check, the FDA doesn't not test or inspect to see if they really are organic or not. Also, no MSG is a joke. It's been scientifically proven MSG is harmless.
Point is, healthy food is a branding technique, nothing more. Healthy foods are foods that aren't processed. It's that simple. There are exceptions, like fortified cereals for example.

Healthy foods are not particularly expensive in the US. Food in general in the US is quite cheap, and you can buy "healthy foods" for about the same prices as those foods that are not.
Sure, there's a lot of cheap junk food out there, but there is just as much cheap other stuff too if you just take time to walk around the grocery store.

Because some people are dumb enough to think it really is healthy just because they've been told it is and are willing to pay ridiculous prices for it.

Is it? Per ounce healthy food is far cheaper than the unhealthy crap.

Folk don't know how to shop. You can grow a lot yourself, you can go to farmer's markets, and with coupons and watching for sales, you can eat healthy AND inexpensively.

Good question. Probably because it's made with real food that grew from the ground and not just some chemicals thrown together in a few minutes.

Cheaper to make people obese and cause them to need medical attention, where doctors and facilities can charge almost whatever they want.

I've had to go to the USA many times unfortunately.
I've never seen healthy food there - didn't know they had any.
